Web Audio Recorder
Support
Help for Web Audio Recorder, a Chrome extension that records audio, uploads a cloud WAV copy, and lets you save an optional MP3 file.
Last updated June 8, 2026
How to use it
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Pin Web Audio Recorder to your toolbar and open the popup.
- Enter your email to create or reuse your cloud account.
- Accept the privacy policy, confirm participant consent, confirm 18+ use, and choose your AI-training setting.
- Allow the recording permission when Chrome asks, press record, then press stop.
- Wait for the cloud upload to start, then save the optional MP3 file to your device.
Troubleshooting
- If recording does not start, check that Chrome has granted the extension permission to record, then reopen the popup.
- If you hear no audio in the recording, make sure the tab is actually playing sound and is not muted.
- If the file does not download, check Chrome's downloads and your browser download permissions.
- If a cloud upload fails, the extension may queue a retry locally. Changing consent or revoking access clears queued retries.
- Use extension settings to withdraw AI-training consent, delete uploaded cloud recordings, change future consent, or revoke access.
- If you don't want to keep a downloaded MP3, delete the local file from your device.
